This is a piece I have been working on, screwing up, cussing at, and giving up on for over a year. I finally had a breakthrough and finished it and the accompanying one while my wife was on vacation. You can check my scraps for the original color study and some in-process pictures. I started off thinking that I was going to do a piece reminiscent of Henry Moore’s figure drawings and ended up looking to Alphonse Mucha and Patrick Nagel for inspiration before I was finished. I think these are going to be a new direction for some of my up and coming nudes. Perhaps I’ll strike a balance between this and my Pseudo-Futurist nudes.
It is about 20"x30" on cold press Illustration board done with water color mostly and colored pencil. I tried to spray paint on this one but I hated the outcome and ended up shaving it with a blade from a mat cutter. I’m not joking! I loved the end result and shaved off some watercolor in a few areas too. It left an interesting texture.
Hi There!
You have just earned yourself an O.D.D.(oibyrd's daily devs) feature ! congrats!
TODAYS THEME - Spotlight on Traditional Art
ODDS (oibyrd's daily deviations) are to honor the sometimes overlooked artists of dA that I personally think deserve some exposure and also, to introduce the more popular artists to the new/overlooked deviants. I prefer to showcase ALL artwork that I love (and that includes popular artists with a fair amount of traffic to their work) in order to create a non-biased feature of the talent on dA. Please click the link below to see your work featured and to view other featured artists . If you prefer not to be a featured artist, just send me a note and I will remove you from the list. Cheers! No she isn't sad. It just ended up looking like a serious expression. Since she isn't grinning most people seem to think she is scowling even though she isn't.
